OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS for ASKARI® HERMETIC 7.1 EXPORT

START OF OPERATION:
Connect alarm siren (weatherproof pressure chamber loudspeaker) by inserting the 5-pole plug into one of the sockets provided on the rear side of the unit. Then press adjacently located pushbutton in. ON = a red dot. After about 1 minute the unit has become "hot", i.e.: ready to operate. During that 1 minute period, the user can conveniently leave the rooms/premises that are now protected by the system.

SWITCHING THE UNIT OFF:
When returning into the still protected rooms the user triggers the alarm immediately, although, the alarm does not sound off until after the (pre-settable) retardation period, the duration of which is recommended to be approx. 15 seconds, so that the user is given sufficient time to reach the (well hidden) unit. Once the button on the back panel of the unit is pressed in, the red dot vanishes.
GREAT CARE MUST BE TAKEN, that for safe functioning, the alarm unit is placed at least 50 cm away from all household appliances that are connected to the domestic mains supply. The HERMETIC ALARM COMPUTER must also not be placed on or next to television sets. Such proximity to power sources could result in false alarms!

Two Alarm Systems within one single unit!

A) LOXXOMATIC
affords the completely novel way of safeguarding the outer skin of a building. In this unit, a multidimensional sensor measures the volume of the premises and spaces to be guarded by the so-called ROOM-RESONANCE PRINCIPLE. To which three additional alarm features are added (please refer to the "Automatic Volume Setting" chapter). In the event that a potential thief would try to pierce or break the buildings skin FROM THE OUTSIDE i.e. THE EXTERIOR SKIN such as windows, exterior doors, walls, ceilings, floors or any other vulnerable part of the otherwise safely protected building, then, for the duration of the presettable alarm sounding period, a shrill and piercing howling sound will be admitted from the electronic siren with such force that the thief or the burglar would definitely be shyed-off and chased away. Whether breakage is tried from the outside to the inside, or by blows, such as knocking in a window, or whether entering is tried very slowly with the help of a crow bar, for example, an ALARM will be sounded for sure!
* ATTENTION! Already the mere ATTEMPT TO ENTER will TRIGGER THE ALARM!*
RECOMMENDED LOCATION for placing the alarm box: approximately in the centre of the object to be guarded.

B) INFRARED EYE:
As an option, this device is usually employed, where additional protection is needed against sneak-in thieves. For example in department stores, big furniture sales rooms, or where protection against so-called "key-picker-experts" is advisable. GUARDING ZONE: club-shape area, to about 9 ft (3 m) range; within close range, at an angle of enclosure of approx. 40 ø, but also with a narrow, spear-like zone of approx. 19 to 26 ft (6-8 m) range; in each case being subject to the prevailing temperature. For activation of the infrared eye: remove the round plastic cover lid from the front end.

THE ALARM AUTOMATICS-SYSTEM:
When the alarm is triggered, a shrill howling sound is emitted from the electronic siren for the duration of the preset alarm sounding period (1 minute is commendable). Upon automatic switch-off of the alarm, the unit becomes activated again. But any further attempt of breaking into the premises triggers another alarm! Thanks to the fully automatic mode of function, the owner may without worries, be absent from his home for even several weeks and months. For any period of absence, however, the infrared eye device should definitely be activated before leaving.
EXAMPLE: A rigorous, cold-blooded burglar breaks a door or window, then reaches quickly through the hole and opens it. THE ALARM GOES OFF! The would-be thief hides behind the bushes and waits for anything to move. Nothing moves! After some minutes he enters the building through the window or door, presuming that no more alarm will be sounded. But, as soon as he enters the room, in which the HERMETIC ALARM COMPUTER is hidden, the alarm goes off once again! The most stubborn burglar will certainly run away, fearing to be seen by neighbours who had woken up in the meantime.

AUTOMATIC VOLUME SETTING

The intrinsic sensitivety of the ASKARI HERMETIC ALARM system adapts fully automatically to the size and area (up to 10,000 square feet =1000 square meters subdivided across 5 floor levels) which the alarm system is designed to protect. Please, take a look at the "VOLUMEN"(VOLUME) scaled dial, that is attached to the front panel of the unit:

IMAGE

The Setting arrow, as denoted above, points almost to right-hand side stop, between positions 8 and 9. This setting to be made for the protection and safeguarding of buildings and premises. For some special cases, the basic setting, made at the factory, can be altered by using the co-supplied screwdriver.

DESCRIPTION AND EXPLANATION OF THE SCALE:
The dial is scaled into the Non-Automatic Range (from zero to the "AUTOMATIC POINT") and the Automatic Range (from the AUTOMATIC POINT to 10).
THE AUTOMATIC RANGE
For protection and safeguarding of buildings and other premises the arrow must be set to the Automatic Range: In that case, several alarm criteria are summing up, viz.:
a) The change of the "room-resonance frequency" (change of volume).
b) Sounds, being specific-to and typical of "breaking and entering" (derived non-"microphonical" from the room-resonance frequency) are being analysed by the so-called "formant-processor".
c) The RATIO-processor mixes both processes: (a) and (b).
d) The "Environmental-processor" checks, whether there is an acute case of "breaking and entering" under way, or, whether some environmental interferences (wind, storm, thunder or other extraneous sounds/noises are involved in the particular"alarm-event").

EXAMPLE:
You open a window quite normally from the inside: the alarm is triggered...! (That means that the change in volume is enough to trigger the alarm, but sounds that are "specific-to breaking and entering" are about equal to zero! Then, you open the window again, very slowly - millimetre after millimetre -: no alarm is triggered! The change in volume is too small to sound an alarm (Sounds "specific-to breaking and entering, are about equal to zero). What has happened? Everything seems in order! Reason: You are not burglar and you have merely unlocked and opened the window yourself! But, if any malicious thief would try to break your precious window very slowly, though forcibly, then noises or sounds are created that could also lie within the inaudible infrasonic frequency range. Thus, not the actual frequency of said "specific-to breaking/entering noises" are indicating with the highest degree of certainty that a burglary is taking place and the alarm is triggered consequentially, but that very specific components called "formants" that have been discovered by ASKARI-Research engineers, are indicating that acute and actual event of breaking and entering. By means of special-type sensors, the frequencies of room resonance are measurable at any given location within the coherent air column being covered by HERMETIC ALARM. The air-column contains audible, as well as lower-than audible frequencies (infrasonic range). Hence, it does not make any difference at all where HERMETIC ALARM happens to be placed at that time!

THE NON-AUTOMATIC RANGE
In this case, the "specific-to breaking/entering" sounds are not occurring in the measuring process at all. For making the device suitable for the protection and safeguarding of smaller objects that are parked, or placed somewhere outdoors midst of all the ambient noises of environmental conditions, as follows: Automobile (setting to +3), lorries (+4), boats/yachts (3-4), Euro containers (4). HERMETIC ALARM can be recommended to be installed in luxury automobiles. Even cautious, "soft" removal of a rear window automobile pane (car-thieves love to do that) will trigger the alarm instantaneously!

SETTING THE DURATION OF THE ALARM
The intended duration of the alarm is set by using a small screwdriver in the recess provided in the front panel ("DAUER" = DURATION). (Left limit stop set to approx. 1 sec, for testing; right limit stop to approx. 1.3 min,; with 1 minute recommended as the average duration).
SETTING THE ALARM DELAY
The intended alarm delay is likewise set by means of a screwdriver in the recess provided in the front panel (marked "VERZöG" = DELAY).(Left limit stop: no delay, instant alarm. Right limit stop set to approx. 20 seconds of alarm delay.

ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY
An electric mains power supply is NOT necessary! Two large sized block batteries type IEC6 F100 (e.g. VARTA 439)
(The ASKARI 7.1 EXPORT is powered by 8 normal UM-2 cells) will provide sufficient electric current for several years of reliable service. To be absolutely safe, the option is to replace the batteries once a year.

Keeping ASKARI HERMETIC ALARM system AWAY FROM THE DOMESTIC MAINS POWER SUPPLY!

Entirely by using only self-sufficient battery systems, fights the gangsters with their own new tricks. Such tricks consists in the application of up to 1 million volt charges (TESLA Generator) to the domestic supply with the intend to kill all appliances, TVs, radios, computers and above all: the installed alarm system!!! Without the need of entering the secured buildings!!!
Look, too: There ist a great danger!

CHANGING THE BATTERIES (Only for European Type 7.1. The EXPORT Type 7.1 is operated by 8 normal UM-2 cells!)
A 3-year service life of the batteries is not a rarity, because, when in the standby condition, the HERMETIC ALARM uses only very little current. But if the alarm is triggered, power consumption becomes a THOUSAND TIMES HIGHER! That means that the service live of a battery depends on the number and durations of every alarm that has been triggered. Nevertheless will the user always be on the safe side, when the batteries are changed once a year. In case the voltage of the batteries that have been maltreated over several years, is not sufficient any longer, the unit will automatically alert the user by intermitted signals of ON-OFF... ON-OFF given off after switching the unit on.

NOW - WITH PARTICULAR CARE - PROCEED AS FOLLOWS (Only European Type 7.1):
Pull the right-hand side of the rear panel out entirely; you see the two batteries. Then push a knife under the batteries and lift them up to above the lower edge of the battery compartment. There after, CAREFULLY pull out the batteries with the help of the tapes: be careful not to tear off the flexible connection wires! FIRST pull out the left battery, then the right.

WARRANTY

We shall assume a 5 year Warranty of Function to cover all components, excluding dry-cell batteries and accumulators. In case of any claim the part should be returned to us together with the original invoice. The liability for any subsequential cost shall also be excluded from this Warranty!
PLEASE NOTE:
Any wanton destruction of visible external seals and invisible internal seals will result in the loss of this Warranty! Disassembling of the unit (loosening of screws on the casing and opening the electronics box) will inevitably destroy the proper function of the unit. Units that have been taken apart by the user and of which the seals have been damaged, will not be accepted by us for repair or replacement, without the users having to pay the full cost of such replacement.

PRACTICAL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Just lock the ASKARI HERMETIC ALARM in a cabinet: It will function despite its being locked-in!!! (The infrared eye becomes ineffective, simply, because it doesn't "see".) Even if you were singing, dancing or jumping around... when the alarm computer is activated, persons and pets inside of the home, may move about freely.

FALSE ALARMS TRIGGERED BY NOISES?
If you were to burst a balloon, or an inflated plastic bag, or shoot into the ceiling: NO ALARM!
To the highest degree fail-safe!

Greatest comfort during periods of big heat in the summer!
This unique "Room-resonance design concept" warrants fail-safe function even during hot nights, and when one wishes to leave large-size bedroom-terrace doors open all night. In that case, the alarm computer is placed on a chair or stool adjacent to the door such that the then activated infrared eye is "looking" across the terrace door opening. Anyone trying to enter the room will trigger the alarm instantly. The rest of the residence will of course also be secured with the "LOXXOMATIC" against breaking and entering.

AND WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO PLACE THE ELECTRONIC SIREN?
The simplest way to hide the HERMETIC ALARM COMPUTER and the electronic siren is to place it under or inside a cabinet, on a bookshelf (standing upright, it will fit exactly inside of an empty DIN-A5 letter file after removal of the holding mechanism), under the couch... The siren should be placed some short distance away from the alarm computer. Experience has shown that a noisy alarm will definitely chase away potential thieves. Firstly, there will be the shock effect, that causes a supra-adrenergic stimulation making the perpetrator want to escape immediately. In addition to that, the perpetrator has no knowledge yet of what else he might encounter such as all kinds of electronic stratagems and trickeries, for example, including a possible direct emergency call to the police. He might also presume that a very loud alarm is sounded outside of the house simultaneously, which he is unable to hear because of the alarm sounding inside the house at that time. Because the electronic siren is weatherproof, it may also be placed anywhere outside of the building-concealed, if possible-at a high, out-of-reach level. Even better still (because absolutely safe from being accessed) the siren could be installed inside the premises with the wailing sound to be emitted to the outside through an existing outlet or opening. The vapour and air vent stacks, installed for the ventilation of kitchens or bathrooms in almost any house these days, could be an ideal place. All it needs, is to cut the plastic vent stack at a convenient level horizontally, and insert a T-piece between the cut ends and install the siren in the lateral part of the T for which purpose the funnel might have to be shortened with a saw and the open end sealed with silicon-rubber or hot sealing compound. This way, the alarm gets from the kitchen or bathroom up to the roof. We must seriously advise against the visible placement of so called alarm boxes (steel boxes with enclosed siren) at the outside of a building! Judging from experience, the effect of deterrence becomes equal to nothing in comparison and in view of the methods and mentality being employed by "modern-times" criminals and perpetrators. Let alone, that the "prospective victim" is telling everybody, who has eyes to see, by displaying the box, that there's something worth to get his hands on! Putting an alarm box out-of-operation, is mere child's play for the "expert" (such as shooting it down from a long distance). If one insists on having an outdoor alarm box, equipped with a flashlight, a second (invisible) siren must be installed, that sounds from inside to the outside of the house!

The high tech solution: Take a wireless solar-powered siren!
Look at Professional Accessories REMOTE ALARM TRANSMISSION Remote alarm call transmissions to First Aid or similar stations (such as watchmen's services) is made possible on a world-wide basis, especially to any telephone, Automobile Telephone, City-Call participants.

HOW EXTENSIVE IS THE PROTECTION RANGE?
In large, specially interconnected rooms, such of halls of enclosed, weathertight construction, the ASKARI HERMETIC ALARM system will function up to a range of several thousand square meters and up to clear structural heights of 20 m. In buildings, that are partitioned or subdivided: to approx. 10 000 square feet (1000 square meters) across 5 floor levels; in interconnected rooms, provided however, the space is completely enclosed by mutual exterior containment walls and within one single volume of air. The alarm protection of such relatively large spaces is seldom practised, but for residences and office buildings of ordinary sizes, the protection coverage has- jugging from experience- been always completely sufficient.

HINTS; WARNINGS AND TRICKS TO KEEP IN MIND
Even the very best alarm system cannot be guarded against human failure. For example: what will happen if you have lost your keys? Some malicious person happens to find your keys and decides to open-very slowly and carefully, of course- your front-door some time during the dark hours, or when the house is empty? Nothing will happen! The same situation holds true for any conventional-type "wired" systems. He who has the key, opens the lock and enters your premises without releasing the alarm! With ASKARI HERMETIC ALARM this situation can be changed at merely moderate cost to you! Just buy a strong magnetic snap and mount it on the door panel with its matching part mounted on the door jamb. Once the door is closed , the magnet stays put on the matching i.e. counter part. Now, the perpetrator with the passkey or the mortise-puller may pay your front-door a visit at any time. Theoretically, there is no need to even lock your door! Anyone, who intends to open the door from the outside will notice a powerful resistance against his efforts (caused by the magnet), he tries even harder: tries to open it with a jerk or jolt and the magnet gives way and the door opens. Now the change in volume releases the alarm instantly! Do you happen to have a forgetful sharewoman, who has made it a habit to push your windows against the sash, but fails to really lock them? Some small magnetic snapping gadget attached to each window solves your problem by increasing the safety lockage of your windows to 100 per cent. If that should not meet with your taste or aesthetics for optical reasons maybe, you can install invisible so-called "bullet-snappers". If you prefer to sleep with windows tilted: a skilled burglar could possibly reach through the gap, carefully open the window and-without having to break the hardware-open the window very slowly. In that case, inexpensive, locking handles will do the trick: although, the lock must be unlocked before turning the handle!

ERROR POTENTIALS TO KEEP IN MIND
HERMETIC ALARM has proven extraordinarily safe from false alarms. But there are also extreme environmental conditions to be anticipated. If you took good care and abide by our small hints and warnings, no false alarm is ever going to bother you! If your neighbour would indulge in his hobby with a compressed air hammer or similar noisy tool, if heavy traffic in front of your house would make your house tremble, false alarms could be caused in the extremest of all cases, just by the transmission of solid-borne ore structure-borne sound to the alarm computer. The most effective remedy is quite simple: Place the HERMETIC ALARM box on a soft pad, like a mouse pad! The strength of the room resonance frequency is always subject to the interior finish of the rooms: bare walls result in an increase of the room resonance frequency, whereas textile tapestry clad walls, and fabric upholstery will result in a decrease of that frequency. If, in any extreme case (such as supra-sensitivity of very small objects, e.g. flats and apartments etc.) false alarms should be triggered, just turn the volume setter knob a little counter-clockwise, and everything will be in perfect working order again. When wind/ draft velocities exceed 60 km/h (38 mph) in a room false alarm could be released. The cause for that being the infrared sensitive-to-heat eye. The windows are not sealing tightly, strong drafts might be created in the immediate vicinity of the cracks, due to the "jet effect", even at moderate external air movement outdoors. MARK THIS RULE: DO NOT place your HERMETIC ALARM unit on the window sill or directly next to an open fireplace or near an airconditioner!!!!!
